Morning, came into work this morning to this email from hudson on behalf of sky.


Update on Application for post of SKY Engineer







We realise that you may have waited a long time to hear from us, so firstly we would like to apologise for what has been a long recruitment process, and at the same time we would like to thank you for your patience and understanding.



You may already be aware that we had an unprecedented response to our advertising, and it has taken us some time to work our way around the country assessing for those postcodes where we had the vacancies.



Unfortunately owing to the extremely high quantity of excellent candidates we received, and having to work through these in order of application date, we have now filled all the vacancies in your postcode area. Regrettably your current application has now been closed.



We may of course have new vacancies that come up in your postcode area in the future, so please keep an eye out for any new advertising and re-apply should you still be interested.



In the meantime we appreciate and value the interest you have shown in being part of the Sky team.

This has really made me angry, I have been waiting about 5 years , I have applied 4 times, I called sky up last month, who said I was 1st of the list and I should be getting a call in the next few month,

I think its bang out of order just to close an application down, after I have took time to do the application online, write up my cv, pass my phone interview,

I really understand that sky are a huge company, and had 1000s of people applying for a small amount of jobs, but to treat people like this makes me sad!

think now i am going to give up

I'm really sorry to hear this for you, to be honest I'm expecting the same sort of E-Mail to arrive myself.

So they now have a glut of people that have passed and instead of contacting them when positions arise you have got to go through it all again. With yet another bunch that pass the next time the whole scenario starts again. If you are good enough the first time you should not have to go through the whole proces again and why waste money sending staff around the country on a jolly.
I maintain the problem was that the interview was too much of a process. Nobody was thinking of individuals or monitored how many they had already put through, it was a matter of everyone passed if their score was acceptable. I bet there was never a time when anybody got together to discuss the candidates and what weaknesses or merits they had and then narrow the field down. If you hit the pass mark you were supposedly in.

My conspiracy head is on now, but E-Mail arrives just in time for the weekend so you can't react to it straight away with a phone call

Talent Resourcing Team are if Im right an independent company that sorts the applications. I would call Sky direct and ask them if that is the case.

If it is, sorry to hear the bad news and I wish you well for the future.
